When In Rome...

1st May 2020

As a well-known wine aficionado and environmentally aware consumer, Phillip has partnered with When in Rome to develop this beautiful range of great value wines, in eco-friendly packaging. High quality, artisan wines from independent Italian vineyards.

The range so far comprises of a red, made with Nero de Troia, and a white made with Falanghina, which will be available online and in-store in Waitrose as well as online on Flavourly.com and Amazon.

“I have really enjoyed the process of sourcing, selecting and now sharing these wines with everyone,” says Phillip. “I don’t think there is anything I have been so passionate about, so I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.”

White: Benevento IGT Falanghina 2.25L

With delicate aromas of white flowers and orange blossom, this award-winning Falanghina tickles the taste buds with green apple, quince and lime flavours and a crisp, minerally finish. An Italian classic, Falanghina has long been a firm favourite in the South as it’s fantastic on its own but also stands up to the local cuisine. Fruity and refreshing, this wine is bursting with zesty lemon and lime flavours, delicate acacia and orange blossom notes and hints of tart green apple and quince on the finish.

Red: Nero di Troia IGT 2.25L

A real powerhouse red, Phillip Schofield has personally chosen a wine that is rippling with blackcurrant, plum and red cherry notes. The firm structure finishes with complex hues of violets, star anise and fig. The origins of the name Nero di Troia are uncertain. Troia is a small village in the Puglia region, near where this wine is made. Furthermore, Troia is the Italian word for Troy in Ancient Greece and, just like a Trojan horse, hidden inside this humble box is a powerful, intensely fruity ruby red wine.
