What's in store for Text Santa?

4th December 2014

Phillip once again takes the helm of this year's Text Santa fundraiging celebrations in an all-glittering live show this 19th December on ITV.

It's the time of year to help those near and in a packed three hour, star-studded evening, viewers will be treated to comedy, music and special episodes of ITV shows interspersed with moving films, highlighting why stars are combining to raise funds for six UK charities

As if broadcasting for 24 hours wasn't enough - a breeze, right? - Phillip will be returning to screens to take on dizzying heights to raise even more for ITV's annual charity extravaganza.

Schofe will be climbing a part of the 308-metre skyscraper where the public are not allowed, and will be walking so high he will 'technically be in civil airspace'.

He told ITV News that he was 'alright with heights' but that he thinks it will be 'quite gruelling getting up there'.

Schofield will undergo the challenge before December 19, weather permitting.

There'll also be an extra special game of The Cube, which sees Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness join forces - the first time ever two people will take on the challenges.. but can they beat The Cube?

For the three-hour extravaganza, Phillip will be joining co-hosts Christine Bleakley, Ant & Dec, Alesha Dixon, Paddy McGuinness as well as a host of stars such as Carey Mulligan, Brenda Blethyn, Simon Cowell and the cast of Coronation Street - not forgetting a certain Mr. George Clooney... hello ladies!

George, and Mr. Selfridge's Jeremy Piven, will both star with the cast of ITV's hit period drama Downton Abbey in a mini episode recorded exclusively for Text Santa.

Phillip, who recently took on a mammath marathon of 24 hours of live broadcasting (hats off to you, sir!) will reveal how he then went on to scale dizzying heights to raise even more for Text Santa.

Ant & Dec's very own show Saturday Night Takeaway, which this year took to the road, will be getting a festive makeover to mark the occasion, as will I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! which will welcome a special celebrity choir of ex-jungle contestants.

Camp mates of the past Helen Flanagan, Jenny Éclair, Kerry Katona, Pat Sharp, David Van Day and Katie Price will serenade viewers with a jungle ditty.

The leading characters of Coronation Street are to appear as they’ve never been seen before with some surprise guests including Mel B, plus there’ll be performances by Olly Murs and this year's The X Factor winner.

Text Santa raises awareness and money for six UK-based charities. This year’s chosen charities are Teenage Cancer Trust, Guide Dogs, WellChild, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Society and Together for Short Lives

The appeal has raised £15 million for charities since it started in 2011. All funds raised for Text Santa will be distributed equally between the six charities within three months of the appeal. Text Santa raises much-needed funds for the chosen charities and just as importantly, fosters long-term relationships with viewers, helping to create visibility for the charities beyond the televised appeal.

It's the fourth year of the show and supporting Text Santa for 2014 are appeal partners Morrisons, stocking the Text Santa hats and headbands available across the UK in their stores, and TheHut.com who have a range of Text Santa merchandise including t-shirts, pyjamas and onesies for both adults and children.

Viewers will be able to make donations throughout the appeal via text; thanks to Text Santa partner Vodafone, by using their JustTextGiving service, which ensures 100% of your donation goes directly to Text Santa and allows you to add Gift Aid easily.

Viewers can donate £5 by texting the word SANTA5 to 70760 or donate £10 by texting SANTA10 to 70760. You must be 16+. Please ask the bill payer’s permission. Last date for donations is 5pm on the 9th January 2015.

With plenty of more surprises in store, catch all the action this 19th December from 8pm on ITV.
