Samia sacrified in the skate-off

25th February 2013

After battling a groin injury all week, Samia is the eighth contestant to be voted off by the judges.

This week saw the celebrity skaters dance with props, and Samia took inspiration from her hairdresser role in Corrie as she glided on the ice in a hairdresser’s chair on wheels. Surely that's cheating?!

Despite positive comments from the judges, her stylish routine wasn’t enough to save the soapstar as she and boxer Luke went head to head the skate-off.

But the actress was forced to pull out of the opening performance for the results show, Samia spent the whole routine backstage with a physiotherapist as her groin injury flared up and Phillip worried whether she'd be able to perform at all.

"I've pulled my groin. It's been coming on all week," she confirmed, but was determined to finish the show on a high: "But I'm going to give my Save Me Skate my best shot."

The Ice Panel were sympathetic as she danced through the pain to Enrique Iglesias' Latin hit Bailamos, but unanimously voted to save muscle-bound Luke, with Head Judge Robin declaring, "Luke, it was a knock out in the final round."

After hearing the result, Samia said: 'I'm kind of glad that tonight has been our last night because we've gone out on a high.'

Now the fabulous five has become the fearsome four, who will glide into the final - Rugby player Gareth Thomas, Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle, former EastEnders actor Matt Lapinskas or boxer Luke?

Tune in next Saturday on ITV1 to find out – and catch up with all of the latest on the ITV website now, including previous episodes!
