Dancing on Ice: News

20th February 2012

Dancing on Ice took an emotional turn last night with two of the remaining celebrities having to leave the competition after the Skate-off. This week’s competition was focused on the contestant’s skill level, with the judges hot on their heals.

Chico opened Sunday night’s competition with a routine that impressed the judges as he demonstrated a high level of skill and great energy.

Andy struggled with some of the footing within his routine however the judges said his performance pulled him through.

Jorgie surprised the audience and the judges with some extremely fearless and dangerous moves on the ice. Jaw-dropping moves topped with a great routine that left judge Louie asking for more! This meant she were safe from the Skate–off for another week.

Matt and Nina stole the show with an almost perfect score of 28. The judges commented on the great partnership they have and the high level of skill throughout the routine. Katarina said, “The steps sequence was just unbelievable because not only were his feet clean but everything else, like how his body was moving and how he went with the rhythm, was really like a figure skater."

Heidi received one of the lowest scores of the night. Katarina explained, “Heidi does great lifts but the second you leave her alone and she has to do the tricks she tries, but with her step sequence she hardly moved. So Heidi ended up in the bottom three with Chemmy and Sebastien."

The judges’ votes were unanimous and Heidi and Sebastien left the competition. Sebastien got quite emotional as he said he wasn’t expecting to leave to competition just yet. In an interview just after the show he said he hoped his family were proud of him and that he was fine now and really happy to have been a part of it and to have learnt so much.

Heidi said she was sad to go but felt she could leave with her head held high.
