WOW!That is amazing! I’m 46 and have been short sighted all my life, only, with age I am now short sighted too, and I need different glasses for reading and for distance. I hate having any marks on my lenses, and I’m forever wiping them and cleaning them. I hate it when I get too hot (not usually a problem in the UK with our weather how it is, but indoors with heating it can be a pain) and they slide down my nose, or steam up.
There is no way, however, I could afford it, but I am so pleased to see it all went well for you Philip. I’d be interested to see how Holly gets on, if she ever plucks up the courage to have it done!
Thank you for showing your operation on here, I was so disappointed on the day it was shown on This Morning, as I had an emergency come up and I was unable to watch the show.
Thank you again!!
By the way, I’ve long been a fan of yours and I adore the show. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face xx

I just watched your video again Phil & it amazes me, an op so small can have such life changing results. I would love to have it done but alas I will never be able to afford it.. Fancy being my sponsor Phil?? Well, if you dont ask & all that.

I wish my laser eye surgery had gone that smoothly! Oh, to have had Harley Street surgery ;) Joking apart, you don’t need a Lottery win to afford it (@ Irene Reader), mine cost about £3000 and I paid it off in instalments, companies offer interest-free payment schemes over anything from a few months to 2 years.

Realistically, it stung like mad during the op, my eyes were horrendously light-sensitive for 24 hrs after surgery and I had to put drops in every 2 hours and wear goggles in bed for a few days… but I’d do it all again in an instant. Best thing I ever did! After nearly 20 years (I’m 25) of faffing with glasses and contact lenses, to be able to wake up and see clearly straight away is amazing. Swimming is no longer a blurry hassle. Aeroplane air-con systems are no longer my enemy. I don’t see life through a big greasy fingerprint mark on a lens any more. No more worrying about taking a spare pair of contact lenses or glasses everywhere with me. Do it, do it do it do it, please! I can’t recommend it highly enough!! :D

Fascinating to watch, and so glad it worked so well for you. Everyone I’ve heard of, or know personally, who has had it done, raves about it. I’m sure you’ve helped a lot of people by documenting your own experience :)

That was reaaly lovely to watch that would put anyone at ease. Love love love TM i record it everyday and watch it when i get home from work, you & Holly make a fantastic duo, love the competion between you both you are both very funny to watch she has turned out to be a real asset to the show. Have a nice break!

I hadn’t seen this feature til now. I have terrible vision and my vision is getting worse, I just watched as you realised that you could see the second hand on the clock and I burst out crying! I’m a 44 year old man and I burst out crying. One day I might be able to afford to get it done and would certainly like the man that did yours to do mine, I can see what you mean about trusting him. Well done for being so brave Mr S, VERY well done.

Vince ;-)

I’ve had it done,& I didn’t get any chocolate :(. Although it is fantastic, I agree & very quick, I did find it uncomfortable - not painful & you’ve not shown the ‘worst bit’ where they do the suction to take the cornea off to do the laser cut. Again, it is quick, but I’ve said to friends it has to be their decision & one I certainly am glad I’ve done, but because of it, I wouldn’t push anyone to do, they have to decide themselves. Also average price paid is £2K so not cheap either, but I’ve also checked this with advertising standards & apparently within remit.

Donna says:

Absolutley fantasic watching phillip and knowing it’s not painful and how well he could see after the treatment, i have been wearing glasses off and on now for over 30years,i’m now waiting to win the big one on the lottery and have mine done.

Well done phillip :)

Carrie says:

I agree - vision correction this way is great especially if like me you have a -10 prescription in one eye and -8.75 in the other!!

Unfortunately - i wasn’t suitable for laser treatment so i hadcontact lenses inserted INTO my eyes. The operations were done a week apart and just a few hours afterwards I was wandering around Central London without my specs for the first time in 45 years!

Brilliant!

Irene Reader says:

How good was that to watch, well done, maybe when i win the lottery that could be me!

Sara says:

Absolutely amazing to watch…makes me want to get rid of my specs right now!

You’re so brave :)
