Phillip’s Guide To Twitter, Part Three
Welcome To Part Three Of Phillip’s Guide To Twitter
Is Fern Britton on Twitter?
This paragraph may surprise you, but I get asked one question more than any other. “Is Fern on here” or “Get Fern to sign up”. The answer is always the same. Fern is not on Twitter and all those pretending to be her are fakes. Sorry. I have talked to Fern at length about Twitter and whilst she is interested in what’s said, she is not at all interested in joining. It’s not her thing and is unlikely ever to be but if that changes I will let you know immediately.
What is Twitpic?

It’s really easy to post your pictures on Twitter. There are all sorts of ways, but I use Twitpic. It’s really easy. Google ‘Twitpic’, sign in and you’ll see ‘Upload photo’ in the top right of the screen, just follow the instructions. Click ‘Browse’ to find the pic on your computer (it helps if you’ve put it in an easy to find place) and away you go, look forward to seeing it.
What is TweetDeck?
You’ll notice that sometimes I use TweetDeck. It’s a very easy way to manage all your Tweets, and it updates on it’s own. It’s very simple to use, just Google ‘Tweetdeck‘ and follow the instructions. It will put a bird icon on your desktop and will Tweet at you merrily to tell you of updates. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I love it! There are other programmes available that do similar things, but I prefer this one.
What other ways do you access Twitter?

There are a number of different ways I use Twitter, depending on where I am. These are the ones I’ve found that I like the best.
On my BlackBerry I use dabr, downloaded from www.dabr.co.uk It’s easy to use and is accessed through the browser but you need thin thumbs or you keep logging yourself out! It also doesn’t give you a 140 countdown which is annoying. I also use Twitterberry which, once downloaded, appears with it’s own app button. Again very good, but nothing’s perfect and it doesn’t show @replies in full, you have to click to read longer ones.
On my iPhone/iPod touch: Yes I’ve got ‘em both! Both Twitterfon and Tweetie are brilliant apps to download and are very easy to use.
As discussed I use TweetDeck at home, or my ordinary profile page, depending on where I am.
I also try to Tweet occasionally from the set of This Morning. If you watch you’ll probably notice the little white Samsung Netbook on the table, that’s how I do it… unless I’m using the computer in the make-up room before the show!
I really hope this is helpful and that you’ve found what you wanted. Feel free to have a look at the rest of the website, you’ll find my blog, videos I’ve posted and lots of other stuff. Enjoy
Celebs I follow who are fun/interesting - Click on them to see their page!
(These are the guys who look after my website, and lots of other celebrities - including Holly Willoughby. Think of them as a celeb news feed if you like as they regularly tweet exclusive news and updates. They’ll keep you up to date with information about me and if you ask a question, they’ definitely get back to you)
@wossy (Jonathan Ross)
@hollywills (Holly Willoughby)
@regyates (Reggie Yates)
@xxandip (Andi Peters)
@rustyrockets (Russell Brand)
@richardpbacon (Richard Bacon)
As I mentioned, I’m not listing them all, just the ones I follow and who I personally like as a varied starter list.
Hope all of this has helped!
Phillip
